This is part of my final major group project in University called Miasma.
The character has been created from concept, works done from the groups concept artist (David McKenzie).
This is the character you'll be playing as, Neville.
Late 40s, has been homeless for 5 years after a tragic gas leak in his home town that his family (Wife and child) lay victim to. On the verge of insanity, he returns to the town to seek answers. Little does he know, is that the gas is still vacant in the town and causing him lose consciousness and halucinate.
Software used for this project:
Maya (Modelling, Rigging, animating and for making hair cards with xgen)
Zbrush
Marvelous designer
Substance Painter
Photoshop
Unreal Engine
Marmoset Toolbag 3
Character came to 37592 Tris (18836 Polys), using 2 4k texture maps. One for the Skin and eyes, the other for the clothes. I also used a 2k texture map for the hair.
Brief explanation of production:
Created base models in Maya (Head, shoes and hands), imported and sculpted details in Zbrush, Created clothes in marvelous (Poncho/jumper, trousers, undershirt and beanie), Fixed in maya/zbrush, Retopologised and UVd in Maya, Created Hair cards using Xgen(Maya) and manually placed each card, Baked maps in Marmoset, Textured in Substance (PBR Validated), imported into Unreal and created materials.
I'm happy with the outcome, I am getting better with manually painting skin details in Substance. Not much sculpt detail to show, as most of it is what I created from marvelous designer. I also feel I'm getting a little better with hair cards/placements (even though I understand these are rather simple hair placements) In the future, I do plan to work on a more complex hair piece aswell as more complex designed characters, which is rather exciting.
Feedback is much appreciated! :)
